Marc Reist is a natural scientist among artists; observing nature is his starting point. He engages with its materials and their structures, their textures, origins and potential.
Reist divines the correlations between the microcosmos and the macrocosmos, for his philosophical belief assures him that all existence is related. To a vantage point outside man, in the universe beyond, there comes a reply from within man, from the smallest primordial particle. Spatial grids and cellular lattices encounter one another in his work and find themselves in accord.
At present, the artist is also busy with the contrary process, namely a synthesis of the extremely large and the extremely small – this time as viewed from a human perspective. This is especially the case in the large-scale project GLOBO UOVO. It links the egg with the globe and thereby brings together the origin of life with our concerns for a respectful approach to the resources of the Earth.

Marc Reist ist ein Naturwissenschaftler unter den Künstlern. Er geht von der Beobachtung der Natur aus, setzt sich mit ihren Materialien auseinander, mit deren Struktur und deren Beschaffenheit, mit deren Ursprung und deren Potential.
Er spürt die Korrelationen zwischen Mikrokosmos und Makrokosmos auf, denn seine weltanschauliche Überzeugung lautet, dass es eine Verwandtschaft aller Existenzen gibt. Auf den Standpunkt ausserhalb des Menschen, im Weltall, antwortet der Standpunkt innerhalb des Menschen, im kleinsten Ur-Teil. Raumgitter und Zellengitter entsprechen sich und treffen sich in seinem Werk.
Gegenwärtig beschäftigt sich der Künstler auch mit der Gegenbewegung, nämlich der Synthese des extrem Grossen und extrem Kleinen, diesmal vom menschlichen Mass aus betrachtet, und das insbesondere im Grossprojekt GLOBO UOVO. Er spannt den Bogen zwischen dem Ei und dem Globus und verbindet somit den Ursprung des Lebens mit der Sorge um einen respektvollen Umgang mit den Ressourcen der Erde.
